ABOUT ME
E-Learning Instructional Designer, Adult Educator, Course Developer, Online Learning Enthusiast, Career Planner, College Success Coach...
Career Goal:
To become an aspiring eLearning Instructional Designer and Developer / Learning Consultant
Hi, I'm Daniela Slater. Some people may know me by Danielle or Daniela Tersigni. I have loved to teach since I was old enough to write on a chalk board. When the time came to decide on my future, times were tough and teaching was scarce so I chose a career in travel, by default. It actually turned out to present me with exciting experiences in travel and work. I was given an opportunity to apply my event management and desktop publishing skills to organize and manage events, create corporate proposals, PowerPoint presentations and corporate events material.
After my first child, I began to review my career options and decided to teach for continuing education in the post-secondary sector. I remember telling a friend that "I found my niche". I have been teaching various subjects for many years.
As a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education (Honours with Distinction) degree, one of my goals was to become a course developer for online courses (distance education) and instructional designer of hybrid/online courses. I used many online resources to engage my students actively in communicating and participating outside the classroom. As an online learner at Brock University for six years, I can truly recognize the best practices and have an appreciation for e-learning.
Since my classroom teaching at community colleges, I have gone on to develop e-learning courses for Public Services Health and Safety, Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan, The Department of National Defense and most recently, TD Banking.
Together, with my experience and education, I develop robust learning solutions by combining different teaching styles to accommodate different learning styles.
