Teaching Methodology
The best way to learn is through experiential practises. In class activities, guest speakers, field trips, technology, brainstorming, planning, communication, group work and integration of new ideas are some of the elements I focus on that apply transferable skills into employability skills. After all, students are furthering their education to one day be offered employment and I want to guide them in getting there in the most professional, easiest and quickest way.
Through years of experience with Microsoft Office, I would create everything from trade show flyers, customer spreadsheets, creative and animated PowerPoint presentations, to corporate proposals and study guides and manuals. I help expand knowledge on becoming successful by applying strategies and techniques to enhance skills. When teaching, I focus on group dynamics as the backbone of communication and real world activities in class. With ongoing research, I have kept current with innovative ways to apply effective job hunting and marketing one's self through networking and social media.
As a strong believer of the benefits to well organized group work, I help lay out the plan, explain group dynamics, and priorities to put together the best options to turn out the best results. I really stop at very little to get a whole lot. In this complicated world where many fear technology and working in groups, I continually strive to reduce the fear by providing appropriate tools that work. This includes strong communication and a monitoring system to guide on the side, to keep on track, with little complication and confrontation.
I have listed only some of the courses I have taught through the years. Select the drop down menu (Teaching) to see examples.
